This session will cover the federal Worker Protection Standard (WPS) requirements for agricultural pesticides in greenhouses. Participants will learn about their responsibilities regarding informing and protecting students and teachers from potential pesticide exposure, as well as methods for mitigating harm.
Following the WPS presentation, teachers will have the opportunity to take the Utah private pesticide applicator exam. Passing this 50-question exam with a score of 70% or higher will provide teachers with the necessary credentials to instruct students on pesticide safety, as required by the WPS. Please note that prior to taking the exam, teachers will need to create a Utah ID and pay a $20 private applicator license fee via the Digital Desk portal. I will guide everyone through these steps before the exam begins. Attendance at the WPS presentation is not required to take the exam.
